Timeline for notification for Highly Gifted Program 2016-2018

Tentative timeline for notification of students who meet criteria for the Highly Gifted Program at Friedell for sixth grade in the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 school year*

Students who  tested during February/March 2016 will receive results the week of March 28, 2016.  
Applications for the Highly Gifted Program at Friedell will be sent to students who qualified via a CogAT Score of 132 or above.  We will await spring 2016 NWEA scores to notify students who qualified with a 128 CogAT composite and  NWEA scores in both math and reading at the 97th percentile or above.

Students who  tested on June 10, 2016 will receive results the week of July 11, 2016.
Applications for the Highly Gifted program at Friedell will be sent to students who qualified via a CogAT Score of 132 or above OR a CogAT of 128 and Spring 2016 NWEA scores in both math and reading at the 97th percentile or above.

Students who  tested on August 4, 2016 will receive results the week of August 22, 2016.  
Applications for the Highly Gifted Program at Friedell will be sent to students who qualified via a CogAT Score of 132 or above OR a CogAT of 128 and Spring  2016 NWEA scores in both math and reading at the 97th percentile or above.
 


*Please note that this timeline may be subject to change.  We have recently changed to the online CogAT.   Our identification procedures may be affected by the  availability of data.  We will do our best to notify families as soon as possible.  If at any time you have a question regarding your child’s scores, please look at Test Scores in Skyward.  You are also welcome to call Carrie Carstensen, secretary, or Monica Bowler, Principal of Gifted Services and Staff Development at 328-4299 or 328-4275 respectively. 
Other Information regarding the CogAT and the HG Application Process: 
• A student first needs to qualify for the HG program and then will be given the form to apply.
• In January 2017, a random selection process will be done for students who qualify from the February/March, June, and August, 2016 testing dates; students will be notified for acceptance into grade 6 for the 2017-2018 school year.
